The Sunday Summary #7
February 21, 2016
How is there only one week left in February? A has spent the last few days painting away as... drumroll please... we've decided to start posting a new illustration every Monday, so look out for our first artwork post tomorrow.
A's Highlight of the week: Turning the old airing cupboard in L's room into a wardrobe.
L's highlight of the week: Well not banging a nail into the centre of a water pipe... being almost finished with my cupboard, I've always wanted a walk in wardrobe and it is so close to becoming a reality!
Have a lovely last week of February x
Soon we will have been in our house for a year and the renovations are still going on. With the mdf we bought last week we transformed the old airing cupboard with shelves and a clothes rail during which a nail may have gotten banged into a water pipe... oops! Luckily the plumber could come straight away and replaced that section of pipe. DIY definitely keeps you on your toes. Without any more problems we finished constructing the wardrobe, now it needs priming and painting. First we're going to turn another cupboard into a linen closet and make a couple of drawers then we can paint them all together.
As we've been busy DIYing we used up a load of screws, plugs and nails and were left with odds and ends so wound up making multiple trips to B&Q and Screwfix (think Argos but selling DIY/building supplies). Our local B&Q is closing down so we also stocked up on basics we're going to need to finish my room; sanding paper, paint and wood dye.
Something I've really missed this Spring is watching new flowers crop up from beneath the frozen ground getting ready to bloom. Currently our garden consists of pruned overgrown shrubs, a massive rosemary bush, maple tree, heathers and a few crocuses along with mossy grass. The flower beds we cleared when we moved in are lying empty and just waiting to be filled. Walking past daffodils daily put us into action and we picked up some bulbs and seeds to plant in the coming months.
A loves cooking up huge batches of a meal so that we can put them into individual portions and freeze ready for enjoying, with minimal effort, after a long day. This weekend she whisked up seven (yes SEVEN) mince pies the first of which we already devoured yesterday for lunch. This really is a great way to avoid eating supermarket ready meals and take aways, costs a fraction of the price and you know exactly what's in it.
Another week filled with art, DIY and cooking, it's funny since beginning this blog and writing a weekly summary it becomes really obvious what you do each week and the moments that bring you joy.A's Highlight of the week: Turning the old airing cupboard in L's room into a wardrobe.
