Contemplating a Capsule Wardrobe

February 12, 2016

The decluttering and purging trend has truly taken hold, however when it comes to clothes it's all very well getting rid of everything that doesn't spark joy but what about the practicalities of actually building a wardrobe you love? Enter the capsule wardrobe.

Now I feel I should preface all of this by saying that I love shopping. Having studied fashion at university and being an avid blog reader/YouTube watcher I'm always seeing new tempting pieces or styles. Basically the idea of only having 37 piece wardrobe and not shopping for 3 months is rather terrifying. I'll put this into context by saying I just counted up all of the hanging items in my closet, 27, which doesn't include my chest of drawers and a suitcase that has yet to be unpacked. Yikes.

The appeal for me is a combination of the challenge, saving money and actually wearing all my clothes. At the moment I re-wear the same items over and over again while the rest languish at the back, or sometimes bottom, of my wardrobe. Plus Anna keeps posting content on how much she's loving her capsule wardrobe.

So will it actually happen, will I commit to 3 months, 37 pieces and no shopping. I'm becoming more and more convinced, but first things first... we need to finish building my wardrobe!
