I have been playing about with words and shapes using my calligraphy ink pen.

The seaside inspiration continues! Happy Friday - YAY! End of a week... start of a weekend.

It's Roald Dahl's birthday today and if he were still alive he would be 100.
It was through my daughter as she was growing up that I discovered Roald Dahl.
It is hard to pick a favourite quote but two I like are:

"Somewhere inside all of us is the power to change the world"
and
Happy Birthday Roald where ever you are - thank you for all the fantastic stories!

Going to the seaside reminded me of this watercolour I created when I wanted some blue on a wall at home.
The room that needed blue had been redecorated, with fresh paint on the walls, and I was really happy with the colour but some instinct was telling me that to finish the room off a blue painting was required. I decided to make the painting look like the sea all the while keeping the feel loose and abstract.

Unfortunately the picture disappeared in the last house move! Luckily I had taken a photograph of it which will help when it comes to painting it again.

I wonder if you have felt the need for a certain colour in a room and then gone searching for it - I hope you found what you were looking for.

The sun was shining and the sea was calling but where to go.
I'd always wanted to see Dungeness, so off we went.



It was very windy and quite extraordinary. Edward Hopper's paintings came to mind as there was an odd stillness, despite the wind, coupled with a sort of uneasy silence and a hint of tension.




"The Zombie Apocolypse" L said - clearly it wasn't what she was expecting by a trip to the beach!


Amongst the rotting timber, corroding metal and shingle some plants were thriving.

EDF's two nuclear power stations - one closed, the other with a renewed license.



Fishermen live in the hamlet and there is an RSPB bird reserve. The birds were hunkered down, facing into the wind. What must Dungeness be like in a gale?

The British weather had been kind; the sunshine had kept us warm and the light had been amazing for photography. However the warmth of home, snuggling on the sofa with a hot drink, beckoned. It was time to get in out of the wind.

It's that time of the week again - it comes round so quick. Hurrah for Friday or should I say 'YAY"!

Bramble jelly batch number three just potted up. Batch number one was so good we went back to pick more blackberries, much to Monty's delight! The jelly making had taken over!
